TRANSHUMANZ

In 2023, the tradition of the seasonal movement of people and livestock, or 'transhumance', was inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. There is only one transhumant sheep farm left in Luxembourg, which moves its flocks through the meadows, villages and streets of the Grand Duchy. In her project Liz Lambert will be following this farm photographically for several months. She will pay particular attention to the relationship between humans and animals and to the following questions: what is the significance of this practice for our present and future society, how does it bridge the gap between rural and urban areas and how does it contribute to the preservation of biodiversity?
