The film Das Sultanat von Oman, which was believed to have been lost, was restored by film restorer Victor Pranchère for the DEFFARGE & TROELLER exhibition at the Museum Folkwang in Essen, and was then dubbed in German for the German-language exhibition.
The film is one of the earliest films produced entirely in French. Using this film as an example, Pranchère explains how film restoration works today and what possibilities it offers. His talk provides a fascinating insight into a little-known field of film research and restoration.
