To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the iconic exhibition The Family of Man, the Centre national de l'audiovisuel (CNA) is partnering with Professor Gerd Hurm, author of a biography on Edward Steichen, to organize a symposium in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg and the University of Trier.
This event will bring together international experts, including keynote speaker Shamoon Zamir, to explore the historical, artistic, and cultural impact of this groundbreaking exhibition. Through engaging lectures and discussions, the symposium will highlight the significance of The Family of Man, analyzing its influence on visual culture and photographic storytelling while reflecting on its lasting legacy over seven decades.
This gathering offers a unique opportunity to revisit this foundational work and understand its enduring resonance through time.
