During two five-day sessions, workshop participants will examine in detail their film projects, whether it is a fiction, a series or a documentary. Accompanied by Miguel Machalski and the whole group of participants, they will assess the strengths and weaknesses of their story and the elements that serve it.
A review and in-depth reflection of the story and the film will be carried out with, at the conclusion of the first session, proposals for a few areas for rewriting or improvement.The second session will be dedicated to the presentation and analysis of new writing axes and / or script evolutions.
This training is aimed at Luxembourg authors / directors, or residents of Luxembourg, who have a project in the process of being written. We accept fiction, documentary and series projects regardless of the format (short, long, medium…) and genre. We accept a maximum of 4 projects (co-authors are welcome) per year, for a training of two 5-day sessions (10 training days in total).
Practical Information :
- 1st session : from 17 to 21 April 2023 (in person)
- 2nd session : from 9 to 13 October 2023 (remotely)
- La participation at both sessions is mandatory

The training will take place in person at the CNA or remotely via the internet depending on the evolution of the health situation linked to the Covid-19 virus.
Target audience: Screenwriters, group of screenwriters, directors, producers, with a film project in the process of being written or in development, Luxembourgers or residents of Luxembourg.

Apply for the workshop by sending a candidacy file containing:
- A CV / biography detailing all your writing and directing experiences.
- If your project is fiction: a synopsis of the current project (1 A4 page) + a first continuous version of the project, including the subject matter, the staging, the characters, the plot and 2-3 more developed scenes. Projects at the processing or sequencing stage are also accepted.
- If your projet is a documentary / non-fiction: a description of the project, the theme, the concept, any characters. Add to the files a description of a few scenes envisaged, information on the visual universe, voiceover or not, sound / musical design, the first elements produced if applicable (photos, videos, etc.). All files are treated in the strictest confidence, the selection is made jointly by Mylène Carrière (CNA) and Miguel Machalski.
Please note, this is a workshop based on exchange and team work, all selected participants will receive all files and projects and will be asked to read them carefully.
We also accept listeners up to a limit of two per session.

About Miguel Machalski
Born in Buenos Aires to a Polish father and a British mother, based in Barcelona after many years spent in Paris, Miguel Machalski has a multicultural and multilingual profile, which can be found in many of his activities: general development of project, consultation and editing in script, workshop, and scriptwriting.
Miguel has written or co-written more than 20 film scripts (all genres included) in three languages (French, English and Spanish). He regularly gives workshops in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. He is advisor and lecturer for SOURCES 2, EAVE, MAIA and several programs supported by MEDIA, and works as a consultant for the national film fund of Catalonia, Colombia, and Jordan as well as with the Binger Institute in Amsterdam.
