During three days, the author and director Stéphane Foenkinos will propose to the participants to experiment and to confront themselves with the techniques and the acting in front of the camera, as well as his direction. Participating directors and actors will be asked to play their role but also to reverse the roles. Throughout the course, they will have the opportunity to experiment with directing and acting on camera using footage provided by the participants. Reading, experimenting with acting, directing and dialogues, and even acting in real conditions, the training will offer the opportunity to discover or rediscover the pleasures of acting and directing.

Directors:

- A CV/biography including all directing experience.

- Extracts or links from one or more significant productions.

 

Actors :

Stéphane Foenkinos, author, director

 

A former English teacher and casting director on more than 70 films (from Godard to Valérie Lemercier, including François Ozon, Woody Allen, Terence Malick and the James Bond and Harry Potter franchises), Stéphane Foenkinos is a fan of duets. The one he forms in cinema with his brother, the writer David Foenkinos, with whom he has co-directed three feature films: La Délicatesse with Audrey Tautou and François Damiens, nominated for a César award for best first film and released in 30 countries; Jalouse with Karin Viard, nominated for a César award for best actress, & Les Fantasmes, a sketch film that brings together some fifteen prestigious actors from Denis Podalydès to Ramzy Bedia via Monica Bellucci, Carole Bouquet or Jean-Paul Rouve. In the theater, with Tania de Montaigne that he adapts and directs since 2019: Noire, The Assignment & Switch. He is also an author of series (Venus & Appolon, Hard, Fais pas ci, Fais pas ça...), collaborated on the show of comedian Thomas Poitevin (Thomas joue ses perruques), and designed a musical happening around the cinema with musician Alex Beaupain (Musicaa). Having at heart the transmission, Stéphane regularly intervenes in the school, university and prison environment or with company managers. He also leads acting and script workshops as well as meetings and debates in festivals (Cannes, Deauville, Valence, Série Manias...) and has worked regularly since 2013 as a director and artistic director on numerous events for the Hermès company. Also an ardent defender of parity and diversity in the artistic world, he is involved in the associations 50/50, Le Tunnel des 50 and HeforShe / UN Women France.
